INBERSO, the PRIVATE FUNDING OF INNOVATION, includes institutions related to research and pre-seed investments in 23 Iberoamerican countries., The success of this initiative would be impossible without their cooperation, namely thanks to Banco Santander, through their Santander Universities Global Division and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Since 1996, Banco Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, has a strategic relationship with universities, funding and supporting projects aimed at improving the overall quality of teaching institutions, enhancing research and technology transfer, promoting internationalization of teaching activities and promoting the use of new technologies. The final goal is to support universities and their users in order to create open, balanced and competitive societies.
Between 1996 and 2008, Banco Santander has allocated ?600m to sponsor teaching, research and technological projects in order to support higher education institutions, cooperating with over 700 education institutions in Latin America, the United States, China, United Kingdom, Russia, Portugal and Spain.
The Inter-American Development Bank, the oldest and largest regional bank in the world, is the main source of multilateral funding for social, economic and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their loans, guarantees and grants contribute to finance development projects and they support strategies aimed at reducing poverty, boosting growth, trade and investments; fostering regional integration, private sector growth and modernization of the State.
The BID group includes the Bank, The Inter-American Investment Corporation (CII) and the Multilateral Investment Fund (Fomin). The CII supports SMEs, whereas the Fomin fosters growth within the private sector through investments and grants. The BID headquarters are located in Washington and it has regional offices in the Latin American and Caribbean member states. It also has offices in Paris and Tokyo.
